I have been listening to my CDs for German in the car. They are pretty good actually. I can now say "Excuse me" "How are you?" "I understand a little German", "I do not understand German" "I am an American" "You are German" "Where is ___ Street?" "___Street is here"
Mike did teach me Please and Thank You for my first trip. I decided since I can not remember how to say American properly (for a female), I am going to resort to "I am a foreigner". That was one of my first German phrases anyways. If only I had a reason to say the keys are in the onions!
