There was a NY times article about Munich. It is becoming hip to visit there apparently. This is what I remember about Munich. I did have a gut time there.
1. Thinking I was jaded when we wandered over to the Glockenspiel to see the clock in action. By then I had seen a lot of old clocks going off on my trip, and I did not have my camera ready. Whoah, I wrestled the camera out of the bag for that one. It is the best old clock I have seen.
2. Hofbrau house: eating at the long picnic tables and Mike arguing in German with the waiter.
3. The seedy bar that featured booths with curtains and Eurotrash techno musik pumping. The song that captured our collective attention had a refrain "I want to go to Ibiza" in a staccato rhythm.
So although it was not hip when I visited, it was a good time.

Where ever I visit is, by definition, hip.
I remember #3, it was a scary bar!
