Water Levels in 3 Great Lakes Dip Far Below Normal - New York Times

It is true that the lake level is still low. We hit the trough of the 30 year cycle a while ago, but it does not seem to be refilling at the expected pace. So who knows, maybe they are right. I hope it is not permanent, but then if it is, we will have less worries about floods at the cottage!

I have also heard the climate change arguement. Apparently the lake is not freezing nearly as much as it used to (in the bays and other spots) so there is more evaporation over the course of the winter than there used to be. So that is part of the effect also.

Not to mention various places that keep trying to buy water from us, like golf courses in Arizona and Nevada! (Oops, should not have gotten Ann started on that topic, haha.)
