Curry or Maple Syrup

Mike was telling me a while back that in his cafeteria at work, he kept getting whiffs of maple syrup. There were no pancakes at lunch there, so this was curious to him. He realized over time that the garbage cans smelled like the syrup, or sometimes like curry. A lot of Indian workers used to throw out the remains of their lunches, so the maple syrup or curry smell mystery was solved. You never knew if it would smell like Curry or maple syrup.

I cooked some curry the other night, and all day yesterday I kept getting whiffs of curry. It is amazing how it lingers in your clothes. I realized I was wearing a shirt I was cooking in, not just daydreaming about my curry. I did not smell any maple syrup, so I must not be cooking too authentically.

Oh that is funny! I normally prepare curry at dinner only, that way I don't have to walk around smelling like curry all day and If I do make it at lunch I make sure I take a shower again. I love curry but I can't walk around all day smelling like a curry. One note, try using coconut cream and a bit of cardamom in your curry, that often gives you that maple-ish scent.

It is funny since I had showered, but the shirt was the source! Now I know the secret to having a dual scent! Forget the perfume counter.

ha ha, just make sure you don't mistakenly use cumin, although it is also widely used on curries, it definitely will give you a different aroma and for sure it's not the scent you want to be sharing with people.

I am familiar with cumin since I use it all the time, and if I get tumeric on my shirt, it may be obvious!
