Big Brother at the Stop and Shop
I tried the scanners at the grocery store today. You bag as you shop and scan things as you pick them off the shelves. I figured Katie would like that better to avoid standing still in line. The scanners are pretty sophisticated. As you would scan items or walk around areas, the scanner would make noise and offer a special on a related item nearby. I figured somebody must be watching me, because they did not check out my cart when I left. I just handed the scanner to the cashier and paid. So I am sure I was being observed the whole time. It is pretty cool, but they should have a special lane to get out of the store. That is the only flaw. I like it much better than the U-checkout. The U-checkout always has an issue when I use it.

4 months!
Took Katie to the doctor yesterday for her checkup. She's a whopping 6lbs and 12 oz. That is more than I thought. Needless to say, she's in the 97th percentile for weight, 95th for head size (must have gotten that from Mike), and 50th for height. She is more than double her birth weight. Initially her weight was in the 75 percentile, but now it is in the 90s. Then I just figured out that if she was to term, the current weight would probably be double. We split up her shots, so she did well yesterday and did not have a reaction to them this time. She did sleep all afternoon though. I was suprised the doctor did not comment on her foot size.
The grass is finally coming in our lawn, and the flowers are still alive! We will see if it all survives the trip to Michigan. I am hopeful since we have a lot of shade.

What hoppened
Well,
The last week has been busier than usual. We had the Rossmans over for July 4rth last Friday night, and they watched the fireworks down the street. I missed the show, but it was longer than the typical fireworks they have twice a week. Mike said the show was good, and you could see all the other towns in Long Island and up and down the sound shoot off their fireworks. Last night we walked along the water, and I was able to see the scene on fireworks night. It was happening to say the least. There were a ton of boats in the area, and the beach was packed. They were even selling the glow in the dark necklaces, etc. When we were walking home, we saw a lot of families approaching the park with the kids in their PJs. Maybe Katie can take in fireworks in her PJs some day. Judging on how she likes loud noises, it may be a few years! Mike came with his kiddos on Tues-Thursday for a quick visit. It was really fun to see them, and they are little sweeties. After a mad dash to the metro-north station, things became quiet again. Katie likes to watch kids now, so she is really looking forward to meeting her cousins.
On another topic, the Floatie-mobile has been breached. I noticed it had a smashed window last week. Man, Mr. Floatie is going to have a shit-fit when he sees it!
Our lawn may not be ghetto anymore. A truck pulled up on Monday night, and a crew spread out dirt and grass seed. So hopefully we will have some grass grow. I even felt inspired enough to plant some flowers today. As I bought them, I thought that I would most likely want to get more. After planting, that is true. I am limited to plants that can tolerate shade since we have such a canopy over our house. I went mostly for low maintainence impatiens. I found some other purple-bluish plants with red stems (forgot the name). Maybe I will have to take a picture when I finish the project. I also swam outside today for the first time. It was really nice. It was fine with Kuni until the lifeguards started spazzing out with their whistles and a horribly-voiced chick kept talking over the PA when they were clearing the pool. Thank God it was not a poop emergency. She settled down, and we both got our swims done.
